PHOTOGRAPHY

One of my most enjoyable hobbies is Photography. I've decided to share some of my work. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much I did taking them.

I started in photography back in the 1960s when I was given a Kodak Instamatic 100 (125mm format) for Christmas. Over the years, I progressed into the 35m format. My primary 35mm camera has been both the Canon A1 and the Canon AE-1 along with numerous lens and filters. While I prefer using Color Transparancy, I also use both black and white and color negative film. It is all dependant on what I am trying to achieve. If it was for recording for long periods of time, for detail or possible a large print, I would use color transparency. I would use color negative primarily for family photo books, etc. While, black and white was use for specific effects. In the recent years, I've expanded my photography skills into the digital format.

Some of my experiences in learning or using photography would include being tutored by the late Joseph Tibidaeu, a renown photographer in the international photography salons. Which in later years, would see me entering and placing in numerous photography contests. Some of these winners, I have included in this section of my website. During my military career, in the U.S. Army, I was able to freelance at two seperate Army Installation and Divisional newspapers. They were the Tropic Lightning News of the 25th Infantry Division, Scholfield Barracks and the Panaroma of the 7th Infantry Division (Light), Fort Ord, Ca. I would also serve as a unit photographer for 4 seperate Battalions.

I would also do some experimental types of photography. Some of the experimental work I have done has been in reversal development of film or in printing. I have also used Kodalith film to create high contract prints or as an overlay with a color transparancy. I've even tried using lasers, color filtered light on crystals and other media. I have included some of these effects.
